RIP Geocities

gerbilThis is making me a bit nostalgic—Geocities (which apparently still exists) is finally getting the axe from Yahoo!. There was a time when you could boot up your Performa, dial into eWorld, search Webcrawler, and stumble upon any old Geocities page replete with a bunch of animated GIFs, stylized horizontal rules, and a MIDI song looping in the background.

Thinking that was the height of the World Wide Web could possibly make me an old man.
